What is Niyam?

An India-first Android app that shows a mantra of your choosing for 15 seconds before distracting apps like Instagram, YouTube or Facebook open. Instead of forbidding the scroll, it turns every unlock into a brief devotional pause — discipline through devotion, not denial.

How does the mantra pause work?

When you open a blocked app, Niyam appears first with your mantra, its meaning, and a 15-second countdown ring. After reading, tap Continue and the app opens normally; Niyam stays out of your way for the next five minutes. Each read counts toward a 14-day sadhana journey with daily streaks.

Is Niyam free?

The core blocking experience is free forever — 5 starter mantras in English and Hindi, supported by small banner ads. Premium (₹15/week, ₹49/month or ₹399/year, with a 7-day full trial) unlocks all 26 mantras, all 9 languages, unlimited switching, and removes ads.

Which languages does Niyam support?

Nine: Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati and English — the mantra in its native script, the meaning, and the entire interface.

Does Niyam read my screen or collect my data?

No. Niyam has no accounts and collects no personal data. Its accessibility service detects only the launch of apps you chose to block — never screen content — and nothing leaves your device. Details in our privacy policy.

Which mantras are included?

26 authentic mantras with source citations: Vedic (including the Gayatri Mantra and Mahamrityunjaya), Upanishadic shanti mantras, Bhagavad Gita verses, and devotional classics such as the Hanuman Chalisa opening.

How is Niyam different from other app blockers?

Most blockers are walls — timers and lockouts that feel like punishment, so people uninstall them. Niyam is a threshold: it never forbids the app, it asks for 15 seconds of presence first. More in our essay on digital sadhana.

When does Niyam launch?

Soon, on Google Play for Android. Join the waitlist to be told the day it arrives.
